B1_snap2.pngStudent teams pitch final projects to Snap engineers
In what culminated in a showdown of website build projects after 10 weeks of intense development and testing, several teams of computer science students from Pierce College each debuted their final product to a team of six Snap software engineers last week at the social media giant’s Venice headquarters. Student teams were tasked with building their own website using a self-created digital avatar (aka bitmoji), and were judged on technical merit, creativity and the final look and polish of the project and presentation. Bixel Exchange, through the Los Angeles High Impact Information Technology, Entertainment & Entrepreneurship, and Communications Hubs (LA HI-TECH), facilitated this pilot competition.

Happy holidays from Bixel Exchange!
The holidays have arrived, and we are looking forward to a brief wind-down to recharge for all that we have planned in 2017! Just a reminder that we'll break from Dec. 23 - Jan. 2, but will return refreshed and in full force on Jan. 3. Meanwhile, our team would like to share with you some of our holiday wishes!
" ... tech experiences for more students, and tater tots!" - Sergio

" ... continued community support for students striving for knowledge and careers in STEM education, and a bigger desk space heater (I'm always cold!)" - Jessica

" ... a light saber, a magic carpet ride to world peace, and equitable capital for every entrepreneur!" - Kat

" ... to win the lotto to fund all of our killer startups, and a neon sign for my office." - Alexa-Rae

" ... for tech to be an exciting career option for all students ... and that doesn't mean they have to be coders, and an unexpected trip with loved ones." - Lindsey

" ... a bushel full of sugar plums, and a robot assistant whose name isn't 'Siri'." - Dakota

" ... for anyone in tech who's looking for community to find their way to us, and an Amazon Echo voiced by Rob Schneider in '50 First Dates.'" - Sandy

Until we sync again,
