Bixel Exchange engages more than 6,000 students in tech at the 16th Annual L.A. Cash for College: College & Career Convention
Last week, Bixel Exchange joined more than 6,000 students at the L.A. Area Chamber and UNITE-LA’s L.A. Cash for College Convention. Our team hosted student panels with topics including entrepreneurship, arts and media, STEM and careers in tech. Speakers included Hacker Fund, Google, RYOT, Boingo Wireless, mitú and more. The annual event features college life seminars, financial aid presentations, scholarship information, a personal statement help center, financial aid application assistance, and an exhibit hall with college/university representatives from throughout the United States.


Congratulations to our Techstars LA startups!
Startup LAunch companies Avisare, Solutions Vending International and Playfull earned the opportunity to pitch their startups to investors at Techstars LA’s Demo Day. As part of the Techstars accelerator program, all three startups were mentored over three months to develop their product, culminating in Demo Day on Oct. 10. The Techstars LA accelerator aims to help tech startups from around the world that are innovating across a wide range of industries and challenges and seeking to build a deep network across the L.A. tech ecosystem. Startup LAunch SBDC kicks off pilot Executive-In-Residence program
Last week, Startup LAunch kicked off our inaugural Executive-In-Residence (EIR) program with six startups and seven advisors. The EIR program brings together tech executives and L.A. startups for hands-on, customized mentoring. The Startup LAunch team discussed goals, expectations and procedures for the pilot program.

On Oct. 17, Bixel Exchange joined the L.A. Area Chamber’s Innovation & Technology Council for a discussion on cryptocurrency. Attendees heard from Simar Mangat and Priyanka Sekhar of Stream on everything from blockchains to Bitcoin. “Do your due diligence to understand the risk [of investing in cryptocurrency], but the fundamental technology is here to stay,” said Mangat.
