The event, The Future of Work, focused on how developments in technology, like artificial intelligence and driverless cars, are changing society and the workforce. Bixel Exchange and the Chamber explore technology in the future of goods movement
On Tuesday, Bixel Exchange and the Chamber’s Transportation & Goods Movement and Innovation & Technology Councils held a joint meeting to discuss innovations in goods movement technology. We were joined by Dr. Aravind Kailas, research and innovation manager at Volvo, and David Libatique, deputy executive of stakeholder engagement at the Port of Los Angeles. Kailas discussed policy challenges and testing the market for different types of autonomous vehicles. Libatique provided an update on the Port’s and GE Transportation’s Port Optimizer, describing the use cases they have developed as a policy map. Both panelists emphasized that standards, adoption and policy guidelines are still in development. See the photos.
