Innovative Technology Council



Please mark your calendars for our next council on Crowdfunding. We will bring together Chance Barnett, Founder of Crowdfunder; Indiegogo’s Adam Chapnick; and Howard Leonhardt, of Leonhardt Ventures for an update on government policies on crowdfunding. With recent movement by the federal government, we’re reconvening this panel of industry leaders who navigate opportunities in the field as the SEC and JOBS Act attempt to regulate it.

We will also be reviewing the recent ACCESS Sacramento trip and relevant legislation effecting the tech sector.  




Adam Chapnick, Entrepreneur


Adam Chapnick, a Bixel Exchange Technology Advisor, is a globally recognized serial entrepreneur known for disrupting long-established industries with tech-supported new-model approaches. He is a prolific thought-leader on rewards-based and equity crowdfunding, having presented at hundreds of events around the world and in dozens of verticals since 2010.

Adam was a Principal at Indiegogo, which he helped build into the world’s largest crowdfunding platform, with over 300,000 campaigns, users in over 175 countries, operating in 4 languages and 5 currencies.

Adam also founded, the new-model flat-fee distribution service, and has proudly served on the Board of Directors of the International Documentary Association since 2009.

He lives in Los Angeles with his wife and two daughters.

Chance Barnett, Founder & CEO of Crowdfunder

Chance Barnett is the Founder and CEO of Crowdfunder, a leading equity crowdfunding platform that works with influencers and celebrities to transforms their social influence into financial capital. Crowdfunder allows people to become shareholders and owners in great startups and businesses.

Chance also serves as an advisor to several internet startups and entrepreneurs in Southern California, including investing in some entrepreneurs and deals when to add value and enhance the team. Howard Leonhardt, Founder of Leonhardt Ventures


Howard Leonhardt is an inventor and serial entrepreneur.  He has 20 U.S. patents for products for treating cardiovascular and heart disease.  These include cardiovascular balloon catheters, stent grafts for aneurysm repair, and artificial lung catheter.  His TALENT stent graft developed in the early 1990′s holds a leading world market share for repairing aortic aneurysms without surgery.  His inventions have treated over 200,000 patients in 60 countries.

Leonhardt has founded 20 companies to date, most them majority funded by his venture firm Leonhardt Ventures and their associated angel networks includeing The California Stock Xchange, Kindheart Lionheart Adventures, MyoStim Pacers, Leonhardt Vineyards, Leonhardt’s Launchpads, Kindheart Lionheart Media Co., Stem Cell Bra, and Wine Country Baseball

He is co-leader of Startup California and Founder and Chairman of The California Stock Xchange (Cal-X) preparing to be the first social good impact stock exchange and DPO listing service in the USA working through multiple partnerships. He founded Cal-X Crowdfund Connect and Cal-X Stars Business Accelerator, Inc., a business incubator and accelerator focused on cardiovascular life sciences and social good impact innovations.  His Leonhardt Ventures angels network has raised and put to work over $145 million in 28 companies to date, most of them founded by Leonhardt.  BioLeonhardt is developing the first implantable programmable and re-fillable stem cell pump. 

In addition to his work, Leonhardt serves as state spokesperson in California for the JOBS ACT and Crowdfunding for Startup California and has given over 40 speeches on the subject.  Leonhardt holds a Diploma in International Trade from Anoka Technical College and attended the University of Minnesota.  He holds an honorary Doctorate in Biomedical Engineering from the University of Northern California and is an honorary alumnus of the University of Florida and Florida International University.
